The Redline is an independent newsletter and publication based in the United Kingdom. We try to keep this short, plain, and accurate. If anything here is unclear, email us at hello@redlinedigest.com.
What we collect
- Your email address and any name you choose to share, when you subscribe to the newsletter or download the free guide.
- Basic, privacy-friendly analytics about which pages are visited (e.g. URL, country, device type, referrer). We do not use cookies for tracking and we do not build advertising profiles.
- Purchase information if you buy one of our digital products. Payment is handled entirely by Gumroad; we never see your card details.
Why we collect it, and the legal basis
- Email subscriptions: processed on the basis of your consent (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You give consent by submitting the form; you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Analytics: processed on the basis of legitimate interest (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) so we can understand which articles are useful and improve the site. The data is aggregated and does not identify you.
- Purchases: processed on the basis of performance of a contract (UK GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) so we can deliver the product you bought.
Who processes your data on our behalf
- Kit (ConvertKit) hosts our email list and sends the newsletter. Their privacy notice is at kit.com/privacy.
- Gumroad handles checkout, payments, receipts, and product delivery for any paid products. Their privacy notice is at gumroad.com/privacy.
- Cloudflare (Web Analytics & hosting) serves the site and provides cookie-less analytics. Their privacy notice is at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
How to unsubscribe
Every email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email hello@redlinedigest.com and we will remove you from the list and delete your email address.
How long we keep your data
- We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we remove it from the active list and delete it from Kit within a reasonable period.
- Aggregated analytics are kept for the rolling period offered by Cloudflare and are not tied to your identity.
- Purchase records are retained by Gumroad in line with their policies and any tax or accounting obligations that apply to us.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@redlinedigest.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
The Redline is written for practising lawyers. It is not intended for, or directed at, anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be mentioned in the newsletter.
